그대가 알아듣고 미소 짓게
쉬운 말 쉬운 글이 아름다워요
그대가 그대로 느끼면 아름다워요

Easy and Beautiful

Hard words or intricate phrases,
Are hard to share and understand.

Pretty petals,
Warm sunlight,
Your beautiful image,
How do I deliver for you?

It’s not challenging,
For I’m just saying it in simple words.

For you to understand of it and smile,
Easy words and phrases are beautiful.

When you feel the way they are,
How beautiful they are!

*사이봉 오르는 길

사이봉 오르는 길은
가파른 경사로 굽을 수밖에 없는데

붉은 소나무 무리는
비탈에 의지하니 나이보다 작아 보여요

가는 나무 둘레는
겨우 한 뼘 반 정도인데
굵은 나무 둘레는
다섯 뼘이나 되겠어요

하지만 솟아오른 높이는
가는 나무 굵은 나무 모두 마찬가지

한겨울에 되어서는
남서쪽 햇빛을 넉넉히 받으며
가지마다 흰 눈을 수북이 담겠어요

A Steep Path to Saibong Peak

Because of the steep hillside,
The path to Saibong peak is curved and bended.

Growing up on the slope,
The red pines don’t tall for their age, and
The waist is only about a span and a half.

The thick trees, however,
Are at most around three spans.

Yet the height soaring to the sky
Is almost the same as thin and thick trees.

In the middle of winter,
With sunlight from the southwest,
The trees will hold plenty of white snow
On the branches and leaves.

*밤에 내리는 눈

창문을 조금 열고서는
가만히 손을 내밀어 보면은

손바닥 언저리를 빙글 돌아서
바로 저리로 날아가네요

손을 살살 흔들어 보면서
눈을 잡아보기를
눈에 닿아보기를
창문을 조금 더 열어보아요

한동안 눈이 더 날리겠지요

새벽까지 내려주기를
아침에 나가서 만져보기를

Snow Falling in the Night Sky

Opening the window slightly
I quietly hold out my hand.

The snow turns around
The palm of my hand
And is flying right there.

While gently waving my hand,
Trying to touch the snowball,
I open the window a little wide.

It may be snowing for a while.
It snows till dawn I hope,
Going out to touch it in the morning.
